Bidborough
is a popular village set in the beautiful Southern
county of Kent. It was once the home of Kew Gardens
curator William Dallimore and in 1955 he identified
a rare variety of chestnut tree which still grows
in and around the village and is aptly named the "Bidborough
Chestnut".
The
village has a Primary school, nursery, local shops,
post office, garage, public house and a variety of
community activities. The nearby Spa town of Royal
Tunbridge Wells is just under 3 miles distant which
offers a comprehensive range of facilities including
restaurants, theatres, cinema, a modern shopping mall
as well as an eclectic mix of boutiques and galleries
and the renowned historic Pantiles. Tonbridge is approximately
2 miles distant, providing a regular rail services
to Charing Cross, Cannon Street and London Bridge
(journey time approximately 40 minutes). The A21 is
close by providing direct access to the M25, London
airports as well as the South Coast. There are excellent
schools throughout the area with Kent operating a
Grammar school system.
